Mississauga Half Marathon

Today was Craig, Christy and Dustin's Mississauga Half Marathon Race. While the weather had been threatening rain all week prior, the day turned out to be ok. It was a bit windy but there was just a drizzle, which kept them cool while running. Every single one of them ran under 2:00 and Craig and Christy made a new PB. I'm proud of each one of them for accomplishing yet another amazing feat that some only dream of. I hate to admit it, but a small part (right now, it's a VERY small part) of me wants that same 'runners high' that they have and that feeling of personal accomplishment as you step across the finish line happy with your race.

Trying to keep warm and dry before they take off.

Always a few last minute race discussions.

And they're off...finally!

Craig coming up on the 12k mark. He looked strong at this point. Mom and Dad were there to cheer him on! It was company for me and more support for Craig so I'm glad they came! (Selfishly, they were back-ups incase something happened to me)

Coming around the lake front at Port Credit. He looks tired and worn here, but somehow manages to push through it with great time!

Congrats again to them all! I get goosebumps when I tell people what you've done in the past 3 weeks!

Playing at the Park

With long overdue nice weather, Alyssa and I decided to take the wagon to the park. How different the park is this year compared to last, as she can now slide by herself. In fact, she takes my hand and tells me to "stand there" and "catch, Mommy." And I'm not sure where the time went, but she no longer enjoys the baby swing anymore, now it's the big girl swing. I give her a few pushes and she tells me to "sit on that swing" and swing with her. I'm sure the baby appreciates the sensation, but she insists I sit beside her. This summer is going to be great with her, I can't wait!

Oakville 10k

Craig and I spent our anniversary weekend in Toronto while Alyssa stayed with Aunt Christy and Uncle Dustin. They took her to the Toronto Zoo and played lots at home. We had a great weekend of beautiful weather with lots of walking, a Blue Jays game and a jazz club on Saturday. To top it off, the 3 D's (deaf, dumb and dynamite) ran the Oakville Mercedes 10k. After the 10k there was a toddler trot in which we signed Alyssa up. She was in a great mood all morning, but come time for the race, she fell apart. We took bunny away...big mistake. Lead to a huge meltdown. Then she saw a scary apple costume, which freaked her right out. She was also very tired. Needless to say, Craig walked her around the 300m course. Next year, this race is ours!

Christy sprints across the finish! Yay!

Craig is there with Dustin, just behind the woman in black.

See, he finished!

I have a feeling this photo will end up at her wedding!

Even Alyssa gets a ribbon.

The finishers! Yay!

Forest City Half Marathon

Craig and Chris Harding decided last minute to run the Forest City Half Marathon. They had been doing training runs together all spring, and were slotted to do 19k this day anyway....so what's another 2.1k??? After having a stomach bug the week prior, he wasn't sure how well he was going to do. He struggled a few kilometres in, but managed to push through it. He finished with a time of 2:11:43, which is amazing for running a first half marathon. Words cannot say how proud I am of Craig and his accomplishments.

Alyssa and I cheered Craig and Chris on at the 10k mark. She was excited to see Daddy but then got very upset when he kept running.

March Break - Day 5

Today was the last day of our March Break together...sigh :( We had such a fun week, it is so hard to believe it went by as quickly as it did! Today we got outside to play with some sidewalk chalk and do some finger painting inside. I think we're going to have to invest in some knee pads for her, she keeps getting distracted with things around her and then wipes out on the ground. She just loves being outside so much and she loves going for walks. We can no longer say the word 'walk'...not because it gets the dogs all wound up (which it does), but she is relentless to go...even if it is too windy out.

March Break - Day 4

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Today was another busy day! Grandma, Alyssa and I went shopping in London for a while and then met up with Craig for lunch. Grandma took Alyssa home for a 3 hour nap while I went to a doctor's appointment and to visit a friend in antenatal. It sure was strange to be back in those rooms with so many memories and worry in the back of my mind. Amazing how quickly it all comes rushing back.

March Break - Day 3

Today was a picture-less day...they happen! We had a busy day with Grandma coming for a visit. We went to Exeter to have lunch and to do some shopping. It was a great afternoon. And apparently a nap at 3pm does not leave her in the best of moods when she wakes up at 4:15. We all went for a walk with the dogs around the block.

March Break - Day 2

Today we had a busy day of playing with Play-Doh and painting. We made cookies and took a walk to get mail and to Tim Horton's for a timbit. I'm loving my week at home with her!

She's saying "push, push" on the play-doh.

March Break - Day 1

We went for a walk for almost an hour today in the beautiful sunshine. She wore her sunglasses for a few minutes, but she gets too distracted by the Tinkerbell on them.

She found the creek on our walk. Took forever to get her away from it! Then a cat followed us part of the way home. She kept telling it to go back home, but it kept following us. At first she didn't mind, but then she got quite annoyed!

New PJ's

When I asked her what she wanted to wear this morning of all her new clothes, she pulled the Cookie Monster PJ's to wear. So here she is playing with her Princess Castle and sitting on Mr. and Mrs. Potato head in her Cookie Monster PJ's
