15 Weeks Today!

Today was Alyssa's doctor's appointment for a weight check. She is now 9lbs 9oz and doing great. She has slept through the night for the last three nights. And even before that she was only up around 4 or 5 to eat. Touch wood, we're hoping to keep it up.

Congratulations Graduates of '09

Last night was my grade 8's graduation. While I have missed them all so dearly, I am so proud of everyone of my students. They are fantastic individuals with each one of them having unique qualities. I wish them all happiness in the future. Next year will be a big year for them, and I am very excited for them to take this next step. The halls will seem bigger and they will feel smaller, but each one of them will find their place. So if they're reading this note, from the bottom of my heart I wish you all joy and happiness in whatever you choose to do in life. You are all great people and don't ever let anyone tell you any different. You put such a huge smile on my face last night and I was honoured to shake your hands and wish you congratulations for completing such a milestone as graduating Elementary School.

The song Proud by Heather Small is a song that I played for my students the first week of school. I think Heather speaks to each and every one of us. I get goosebumps every time I hear this song and I just want to break out and sing along. I know my students picked up on the song as well, and I hope it is a song that they stick true to! I was just going to copy a section of the lyrics, but the entire song is amazing.

Proud by Heather Small

I look into the window of my mind
Reflections of the fears I know I've left behind
I step out of the ordinary
I can feel my soul ascending
I am on my way
Can't stop me now
And you can do the same
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
It's never too late to try
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
You could be so many people
If you make that break for freedom
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
Still so many answers I don't know
Realise that to question is how we grow
So I step out of the ordinary
I can feel my soul ascending
I am on my way
Can't stop me now
And you can do the same
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
It's never too late to try
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
You could be so many people
If you make that break for freedom
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
We need a change
Do it today
I can feel my spirit rising
We need a change
So do it today
'Cause I can see a clear horizon
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
So what have you done today to make you feel proud?
'Cause you could be so many people
If you make that break for freedom
So what have you done today to make you feel proud?
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
What have you done today
You could be so many people?
Just make that break for freedom
So what have you done today to make you feel proud?

Thank you to Laura Varga who took over the task of teaching grade 8's half way through the year. It isn't an easy task. Believe me, I know! You did a great job and they will never forget all that you did for them! Thank you!

CONGRATULATIONS GRADUATES!!!!

First Father's Day

Craig had a great first Father's Day. Alyssa loved getting all dalled up for daddy! You're a fantastic dad, Craig. Alyssa couldn't ask for any better!

MS Society of Canada

For the third year in a row, Craig is doing the MS Ride July 25th - July 26th. He is riding from Grand Bend to London and back on his bike. The MS Society is an amazing foundation that raises money for Multiple Sclerosis. I am very proud of my husband for taking the time to do something that he truly enjoys and raising money for an excellent cause. All money donated goes straight to assist people with MS or to help in research. None of the money goes to administration. Participants pay a registration fee, and that is where that money goes. Please check out his website.

MS Society of Canada

Thank you in advance for all of his supporters!!

First night in own room

Tuesday of last week, Alyssa has been sleeping in her own room. The first night she slept from 10pm until 6am. Every night after that she is up once through the night. Which is pretty good in my books! Here are some other pictures of her finally decorated room. Her first morning in her own bed.

Her name that Grandma B. made for her

The two hands are her and her sister's hands

Love books...can't wait to start reading with her. It's not very interactive right now!

June update

As of last week, Alyssa weighed 8lbs 9oz. After having a week of no weight gain previously, she gained a whole pound the following week. Her eating habits lately are almost every 2 hours during the day and she goes 4-5 through the night. There has been one night where she slept for 6 hours. It was bliss! She was three months old on Saturday. Very hard to believe. She does really well holding her head up and is starting to be able to bear weight on her legs if only for a few seconds. She's doing really well. Here are some pictures and of her playing on her floor mat, outside in her stroller and some four generation pics.
